The Welland Animal Hospital was opened in 1958 by Dr A. Paulson. Dr. Paulson retired in 1975 and the practice was bought by Dr. Paul Karner. Dr Karner was an OVC 1962 graduate and had owned and operated the Dain City Animal Hospital from 1962 to 1975. Dr Paul Karner owned and operated the Welland Animal Hospital until his retirement in 2000. His son Stephen Karner graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1994, and joined his father in practice after graduation. Dr Jeff Fidler, a classmate of Dr Steve Karner joined the Welland Animal Hospital as a partner in 2000.
Dr. Steve Karner and Dr Jeff Fidler have proudly carried on the long standing tradition established by Dr. Paul Karner of trying to provide to the best quality veterinary care for our patients as possible. In order to achieve this goal we use a three pronged approach. First and foremost we put the animals needs first, we make every attempt to make every visit to the clinic a positive experience for your pet. All of our staff our trained in using fear fear techniques in order to make your pet as comfortable and stress free as possible during the visit. Second, our veterinarians and staff take education very seriously we spend many hours every year going to continuing education courses, wetlabs, and conference to staff in order to keep abreast of all the latest treatments and techniques available. Finally our facilities and equipment. We have recently completely renovated our hospital and have a complete compliment of modern equipment to provide a clean, warm welcoming environment for you and your pet.
