DNA testing can be a used to screen animals for certain genetic disorders. This can be used to screen breeding animals or for diagnostic purposes.

• Canine Globoid Cell Leukodystrophy (West Highland White Terrier, Cairn Terrier)
• Canine Phosphofructokinase Deficiency (Cocker Spaniel, Springer Spaniel)
• Canine Progressive Retinal Atrophy (Irish Setter, Cardigan Welsh Corgi)
• Canine Pyruvic Kinase Deficiency (Basenji, West Highland White Terrier)
